The Tulip Garden Srinagar – impressions of a German visitor
Tulip Garden Srinagar, Kashmir, India

Two weeks ago I visited the tulip garden in Srinagar.

Having lived in Holland for a while, Tulips are special flowers to me.

Of course there are differences between the tulip garden in Srinagar and the one at Keukenhof in Holland. Apart from the size of its area, I remember, the latter had ornamental flower arrangements, for example.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend to go and visit this tulip garden in Srinagar, because it is unique in its setting. Letting your eyes sweep over the ocean of tulips swaying in a fresh mountain breeze, while tall snowcapped  mountains loom over you in the background, you are caught in a breathtaking, incomparable imagery. The blooming flowers create a rainbow of colors stretching into the distance. Nature’s beauty on display.

This is something you can only find in Srinagar!

The Srinagar tulip garden has been kept very neat and clean which I found very encouraging.

Worth mentioning also:

After leaving the park, a tent opposite the exit holds an intriguing exhibition about Kashmiri handicraft and a display of delicious traditional Kashmiri food, known as Wazwan. For a very cheap price you can try different Wazwan dishes (vegetarian and non-vegetarian).

I would recommend to allow more time for your journey to/from the tulip garden as there is sometimes a rush and thus traffic jam along the lake boulevard road. So be patient, you will certainly get there to this beautiful tulip garden.
