What is the best time for visiting Kashmir?

The best time to visit Kashmir if it isn’t for skiing is from March to November. If you want to come for skiing, we recommend to come between January and March.

How many days do you recommend for a visit to Kashmir?

If you want to visit all the main destinations in Kashmir, then our shortest tours for that are 6 days/5 nights long. Spending a day or two more than that is easily possible, however.

Is it safe to travel to Kashmir?

Yes, it is safe to travel to Kashmir as long as you don’t go to places you’re not supposed to go. Since tourism is one of the main economic sectors in the region, tourist places are generally safe. If you come around National Holidays like Independence Day (15th of August each year) you will very likely see more police and military around, and there may be some shutdowns in more vulnerable places. If you’re in any doubt during your stay here, you can always contact us. We have been living in Kashmir as foreigners for several years.

How do I travel to Kashmir?

You can get here by car or by train and taxi. Our recommendation is, however, to take a plane to Srinagar International Airport. From there you can get to all the destinations you want to visit in the region by taxi.

Do I need a visa for visiting Kashmir?

If you are from outside India you will need a visa for India. You can find information about how to apply for an e-tourist visa in our FAQs.

Can I use my SIM-card in Kashmir?

Only Indian post-paid SIM cards or SIM cards that have been issued in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir work in Kashmir. For tourists from outside India, both are usually not available, so be prepared for not being able to use your mobile phone except through wifi.
