Tulip Garden: where the beauty unfolds

Dubbed the largest Tulip Garden in Asia, the Indra Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is one of the must visit places in Kashmir. It is located in the foothills of Zabarwan Mountains and near the river bank of the famous Dal-lake Srinagar.

It Is 19 kms from the International Airport Srinagar, 17 kms from Srinagar Railway Station and 7 kms from the city centre.

A seven terraced garden initially opened in 2007 to boost the floriculture industry of Jammu and Kashmir is spread over an area of 30 hectares of land.

With around 1.5 million tulip bulbs in 68 different varieties all in multiple colours, this garden is a site to behold in the spring season of Kashmir. Few of these varieties include Hyacinths, Daffodils, Ranunculus, Muscari & Cyclamins most of which were brought from tulip gardens of Amsterdam in Holland.

There is also a water channel running through the terraces which adds more to the charm of this beautiful garden.

This major tourist site in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir comes to life during the spring season when the Tulip Festival is held, this festival is a must see for all kinds of travellers, as it aims at flaunting the natural beauty of the garden, the rich Kashmiri Culture and its handicraft and cuisine.
